Not Making Enough Money From Your Blog? Try These Changes

If you have started a blog but believe that you have reached your peak in terms of income, think again. There are plenty of reasons why you aren’t maximizing your results, and in this article we are going to take a look at some common errors. Ready? Let’s get started.

You need a new design

Design helps people stick around for longer. And we don’t just mean how it looks – you also need to consider how it works. Put yourself in your audience’s shoes. If you click through to an interesting article and are met with an eyesore of a website that is hard to navigate, you aren’t going to want to hang around for long. And you certainly won’t come back again in a hurry.

Create better content

Content is everywhere on the web. And, unfortunately, much of it is well-trodden ground. Try to take a different approach by learning to understand your audience better. Get to know what they respond to, and fill in their knowledge gaps for them. Don’t make content for anyone else but your audience, and always stay on topic as much as possible. That doesn’t mean you have to keep things serious – you can take light-hearted looks at your subject matter, for example. But you should always make things relevant.

Promote content better

You could have written the next Booker Prize on your blog, but if nobody knows about it, your amazing work will just get lost on the web. Think about how the newspapers operate when they have a big story: they promote it everywhere. Learn how to advertise your blog everywhere and anywhere. Try sharing on social media, tell your friends about it, and offer your work to others to get links back to your website. Don’t rest on one post on each of your social media channels.

Try finding the three best times to post each day, and do it for a few days in a row. As long as you are posting other relevant information and getting involved with other people’s conversations, your audience won’t mind.

Get more out of Adsense

If your blog has been up and running for a while, why not get an AdSense account? If you have a website full of useful and relevant content, then getting an account with Google shouldn’t be too much of a problem. They will install advertisements on your blog, and when people click through, you will get paid. While the money you make will largely be traffic-dependent, it can give you a little boost to your income. You can also form affiliate partnerships with the likes of Amazon, and get a percentage of each sale you make.

Become an authority

Find out who the authority figures are in your subject or industry. Get involved in their conversations and leave messages on their blogs. Not all of them will respond, but some will. And, once you have started to develop a relationship with people, it can lead to bigger and better things for you. Guest posts on their blog are a great way of getting a valuable link back to your website, and will also raise your profile. One thing to remember, however; don’t be pushy. Nobody will respond well if you come across as rude and aggressive.
